Troy Carson Images Part 2

Posted in Gallery, Submissions, Archives

The second instalment of Troy Carsons frame grabs and photos. There are a few in here that would look great in high resolution but alas we are stuck with a quality that the internet used to barely handle.

Enjoy!

The old mini dv tapes were recently rediscovered and this session was amongst them. This is episode 1 of the Frozen Hole Archives.

Filmed by Joe Hutchins back when it was still a novelty to have pro's visit Tassie at an isolated beach break on the south coast.

Ryan Hardy scored a Riptide cover from this session with an off the lip reverse. You'll know it when you see it.

I'll dig out my copy of the magazine when I get a chance and throw it up on the site.

Troy Carson Images Part 1

Posted in Gallery, Submissions, Archives

Here's a bunch of grabs and photo's that long time local photog and video enthusiast Troy Carson sent into the site back in 2004. Troy supported the site for several years providing grabs, stills and clips of bodyboarders from all around Tassie. Wherever the swell was hitting you could guarantee Troy would be there camera in hand.

This is the first batch out of several that will be uploaded.

Dusting off some history

Posted in Site News, News

I've just dusted off about 30 mini dv and video tapes to begin capturing all the footage we filmed from the late 1990's to the mid 2000's. This includes the remarks session with Hardy, Rawlins and Toby. Daves Place, EHR, Comps, Shippies, Hawaii and so on.

If anyone out there has an old Video8 camera they wouldn't mind us borrowing for a week or two please contact us. Your generosity will not go unrewarded.

South Coast - Mixed

Posted in Gallery, Archives, Originals

This is a pretty big gallery but I think it's worth scrolling through and enjoying some photo's of fairly good quality waves.

There is also the first known photo of Shipstern Bluff to be put on the internet. I scanned the photo back in 1996 after I borrowed it from South Arm Surf. Looks like a rather soid day!

Some of the breaks featured in this gallery are:

  • Blackmans Bay
  • Cliffy Reef
  • Seven Mile Point
  • Remarks
  • Clifton Beach

South February '09

Posted in South., Reports

Summer on the South Coast has been a bit of a mixed bag. The usual summer haunts have failed to produce anything of quality except for one... Remarks can be creditied with saving many of the states bodyboarders from going insane. An unprecedented amount of sand in the bay has led to many epic days with crowds at a minimum (on some occassions). Very shallow banks and plenty of bounce have been keeping the devoted very happy over the hot summer days, with several "best ever" calls being thrown around. The usual gang of shralpers have pretty much been living down there over summer. Two of the states finest drop knee men, Jim Barwick and Paul Harper have been killing it. Jim has been on fire, taking off on anything that comes his way and impressing the pants off anyone who happens to witness is flawless skills and style in the tube. He has also just purchased a new board, ask him about it. The prone men have been inform aswell. Mr Consistent, Jez Faulds, has been tearing along with Charles Ward, Nick Mole, Geoff Swain, George Webster, Matt Howden, Stu Boggs, Chris Eddo, J Bizzle and the rest of the gang.
